Wishing: The Painting That Caught My Eye

"Wishing" by Cynthia Maske

Among the Charity Auction items that I have browsed through, this particular painting caught my eye. The painting’s name is “Wishing.” It is a portrait of a cat sitting on the window sill looking at the bright star. It caught my eye for many reasons. One of them is the color combinations used. I am not an artist, but I can tell the colors really blends well together and made the night really colorful.  The painting became an eye candy for people like me.

The second reason this painting caught my attention even more is that after reading the description made by the painter, I realized that the kitten in the painting is a rescued pet looking at the wishing star. The description states:

“I like to paint animals and wanted to do something with a kitten for this auction. All my pets are rescues and I want more animals to have the opportunity to be loved and cared for. When my cats look out the window, we call it their TV. When this little kitten looked out she saw a wishing star. Every time you look at it, the kitten could be wishing for something new.”

As an animal lover, I can really relate to the story because we also have rescued a lot of stray cats over the years. Currently, we have more than a dozen cats living in our house. Some just come and go, but our home is always open to strays. Some people might think differently and see it as stupidity, but it hurts more when we neglect them.

I believe this painting has caught a beautiful sight on why animal lives matter. Animals can also feel emotions and I believe they also feel love, and this painting kind of gives me that idea.

If I were to ask what place is suited for this painting, I believe it’s best suited in a children’s room or in a house with animal lovers in it, especially cat lovers. It can also be placed in daycares or even nursery rooms. Heck, I would even welcome it in my room so I could look at it every day and be reminded that every animal I help is every animal feeling hopeful for a better future.
