A Visit To Ark Avilon Zoo

Want to take your family to the zoo, but you're worried of the heat and long walks?  Try Ark Avilon Zoo! The entire zoo is situated in an ark and naturally it has a roof on top so you won't get sunburned. It's also not that wide of an area like other zoos so it's a good place to bring your little kids along.

I've been seeing this deal in Metrodeal for quite some time now and finally when we decided to go to Ark Avilon Zoo, I bought 4 tickets immediately. Regular price is P300 so it's a good deal. I didn't know that 1 year old and below are free of charge, though :( I should've bought 3 only.

Christening Celebration at Ristorante Bigoli Eastwood Mall

We got invited in a Christening celebration of my college friend's baby girl last Sunday at Christ the King Church and then went to Bigoli, Eastwood Mall for their reception. I t was my first time to go Eastwood Mall and I have to say it looks better than Alabang Town Center. It has a relaxing mood to it that I can't explain.

Trick or Treat 2012 and 2013

Every year of October, our village has trick or treat and the residents are very generous in giving treats. Last 2012, I made a mistake in going to SM Las Pinas  for trick or treat hoping that we would get a better experience, but it was not.

Donations Needed For Typhoon Yolanda Survivors in Leyte

To aid our fellow countrymen in Leyte due to the super typhoon, "Yolanda", the parish church of Veritas Parochial School (my son's school) of Paranaque has a project called "Alay ng Pagkabuhay". This is a continuous effort to support communities devastated by the typhoon, most especially the community of Guiuan, Leyte through Fr. Edgar Abucejo. I'm simply helping them out by posting their project through my blog.

We would like to focus on helping parents by providing basic needs of children which we believe has been over looked and are badly needed. In this connection, we would like to ask to the following items:

  1. Tents for temporary shelter (urgently needed)
  2. Medicine - Tempra, Calpol, Biogesic and others for kids.
  3. Vitamins
  4. Hydrite
  5. Diapers (from infant to toddler)
  6. Milk preferably condense milk in tetra packs (any brand)
  7. New children's clothes and underwear (newly born and onwards)
  8. New plain t-shirts for adults
  9. New adults undergarments (most especially for women)
  10. Hygiene kit (soap, tooth paste, tooth brush, sanitary napkin and alike)
  11. Food in tetra packs or easy open cans
And other basic necessities that I may have failed to mention.
Thank you, guys, in advance for your generosity. You may contact the school directly at 842-4158 for further inquiries. Their official website at http://www.veritasschool.edu.ph/.  If you wish to email me, contact me at monatumbaga (at) yahoo (dot) com.

Nickelodeon Takes Over Veritas Parochial School

This morning, we went to our son's school where students and parents are invited to a special Nickelodeon day where games and prizes await everyone. It's a free event so I figured I'll go check it out with my son. Here are some pictures of the event.

Need to Boost Your Breastmilk Supply? Try These Products.

I have been breastfeeding for more than a year now and since my baby is already a year old, I was thinking that my milk supply is no longer enough to make her full because after she drinks milk from me, she's still hungry. They say I should eat more malunggay and I did, but it's still not enough for me so I looked for more products on the internet and this this what I found:

Organic Milkmaid Tea. (100% caffeine free and 100% organic)
It's specifically made for breastfeeding moms who need a little help in boosting their milk supply. I ordered it right away after seeing it and after 2 days of drinking it, I did notice a little boost on my milk and my baby seemed to like the taste of it even more because she prefers to latch on to me than look for solid foods when she's hungry unlike before.

One box has 16 tea bags. I bought it from Babymama.ph for P350.

I've also tried this Yogi tea, but I'm more satisfied with the results of Milkmaid tea. This is actually cheaper and also can be bought from Babymama.ph for P250.

There are also other products that you could try to increase your breast milk. Sad to say I haven't tried them yet, but if you're interested, while drinking some lactation tea, you could also try lactation cookies and they're available in Crumbs and Grubs. You can go to their Facebook page here. They also make lactation brownies!

You can also order from Milk Aid. Click here for their Facebook page.

Babymama.ph also offers a lot more lactation aid products that might suit your needs so I suggest you check out their website at http://babymama.ph.

Nestle's Cookie Crisp for Breakfast

Does your child loves cookies? My son does very much so when I saw Nestle's Cookie Crisp displayed at the grocery store, I literally stopped and thought about whether to buy this one or go to usual ones I buy such as Koko Krunch, Milo Cereals, Fruit Loops, etc. Then I decided to try this one out for a change. Too bad they don't sell it in small packaging unlike Koko Krunch and Milo. I was a bit hesitant to buy it because my son might not like the taste and the smallest box I could find costs P80. It's 30 pesos more than my usual 50-peso budget.

Diaper Talk

Let's talk about one of the basic baby needs: diapers! For overnight diapers, we know that Mamy Poko is number one in the list. This is the diaper I used for my son when he was 2 years old onwards and it really worked wonders - not only was it very absorbent, but it's very soft, too. The only downside is its expensive price.

Side Effect of Measles Vaccine

Our pedia actually told us that after my baby takes her measles vaccine, she might develop a certain rash after a week or two from the vaccine; otherwise, she will be fine like most babies. So I just dismissed this easily thinking that my baby wouldn't develop this rash because my first-born son didn't get any rashes after his measles vaccine.

Then after one week, I was quite horrified to see my baby had measles! Well, not measles actually, but this is the rash that the doctor was talking about that actually looked like measles.

How To Apply For A Postal ID in Paranaque

I applied for a postal ID this morning and I got it within minutes! Read further on how to get a postal ID in Paranaque City Hall.

Amending My SSS ID in SSS Paranaque Branch

Yes, that's right! You can now get your digitized SSS ID in SSS Paranaque branch! You don't have to go to Commonwealth anymore to get one.

I got my first SSS ID back in 2003 when I was still single, but now that I'm married, I wanted to change the name on my ID and I want the new one which is a Unified ID. And so I went to the nearest SSS branch in Paranaque which is along Dr. A. Santos Avenue.

How to Apply for a Barangay Clearance (BF Homes)

I applied for a Barangay Clearance yesterday because it's one of the requirements in obtaining a Postal ID, which I plan to get the next day.

Tahanan Homeowners Association (THA) Office
First step is they give you an endorsement form.  In my case, since I live in Tahanan Village,  I need to fill up the form and then have it signed by our village president/representative. This form verifies that I'm a resident of Tahanan.

Note: Your village/subdivision office usually have this form available in their office already. If not, you have to get this in BF Barangay Hall. I got mine from the THA office.

Bring the following:
  • One (1) 1x1 picture and,
  • Php20.00 for the fee.
Receipt
The processing of the endorsement letter takes only a few minutes. When I got the form, I went straight to BF Homes' Barangay Hall to get my clearance.

Now that I have my endorsement form ready, taking a barangay clearance is a breeze. I just gave them the endorsement and I just waited for a few minutes for them to prepare the clearance. No need to bring an ID picture. Just bring another Php20.00 for the fee.

I also tried getting a cedula, but they just ran out. It will be available next week.

My 9-month old Had Difficulty Sleeping

My daughter (9 months old) had difficulty sleeping the past few days for uncertain reasons such as probably because I drank coffee even though I was breastfeeding or probably because she missed her naps when we went to the mall or to the park, etc. As I've read the answers throughout the internet, some say don't let her take a nap in the afternoon and let her sleep in the evening for her to sleep all through the night. Well, she did took a nap in the afternoon, but only for 10 minutes and then she's awake all through the day until 10pm. Before going to bed at night, she was cranky and just didn't want to sleep. So this wasn't a good sleeping pattern to venture on.

Today, she was able to take a nap for 3 hours in the afternoon and she woke up in a good mood. In the evening, I let her take her 2nd bath because she was sweaty and it was just a hot summer night. I let her eat as much as she want to make her full. Later in the evening, she was able to go to bed without me cradling her to sleep. She went to sleep on her own! Thank you, Lord.

I guess 2 main factors that really helped her go to sleep without any fuss is giving her a bath in the evening and making her full before going to sleep. It's just impossible for her to sleep with an empty stomach.

Well, that's just it. I thought I'd just share it with you, guys. Thanks for reading.

Electrolux HUSH Happier at Home

"There is nothing like staying at home for real comfort." ~ Jane Austen.

Our home is our sanctuary. This is the place where we (should) relax, have fun, bond , make memories and relax some more. But the way things are right now at our home, relaxation is the least in my mind because our home is like a daycare center.  I have an 8-month old daughter who screams, cries and needs constant attention and guidance. I also have a 5-year-old son who constantly runs, jumps and just soo makulit.

Jacob's Ladder Immunization Center

Vaccines can be very, very, very hurtful in our wallets because of their FUBAR prices, but as parents, money or even our savings are sacrificed just to give immunization for our children to protect them from sickness. But thanks to Heapful of Help blog,  we were able to discover Jacob's Ladder where they offer reasonable prices for their immunization shots. They even offer lower prices than Vaxcen. The nearest center from our residence is the Last Pinas branch.

START THE YEAR RIGHT WITH SULIT.COM.PH ( EXPECTING MOMS EDITION)

For expecting moms, yes, we roam around the malls to look for the best bargain for baby merchandises and the excitement is just incomparable especially if it's your first pregnancy. Sometimes we end up buying stuff that our baby doesn't really need because of impulse buying.
